Why We Need Vote Centers?
Adding vote centers is a necessary step toward closing some of the gaps Navajo voters face ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Apache County Board of Supervisors to approve the switch ALL precinct voting locations to vote centers in Apache County ahead of the 2026 general election. The elections office already has the technology including internet hotspots and on-demand ballot printers. Also, vote centers do not require any more staffing than precinct voting locations.
We believe in the power of our votes, which is why our community members turn out to vote every election. Implementing vote centers will help ensure eligible voters, particularly Navajo voters voting on Tribal lands, can cast a ballot from anywhere in the county, rather than at specific precincts, and can eliminate the large number of rejected ballots due to being out of precinct.
Voters are asking the Apache County Board of Supervisors to move forward with a plan to convert all current precinct voting locations to vote centers to ensure Navajo voters can exercise their freedom to vote in an accessible manner and have their votes counted.
