Arizona Native Vote Spring Fellows
This generation of Native leaders is transforming how we engage our communities. In the Fall 2025 we launched our first class of Arizona Native Vote College Fellows and 11 students from Navajo Technical College, Diné College, Northern Arizona University, San Carlos Community College, and Northern Pioneer College participated in the program. These passionate young organizers engaged their peers throughout the 2024 voter registration and election process. They stepped up for the community on election day, and more importantly started creating space on their campus to connect the heart work and head work around the issues they care about.
What is the ANV Civic Engagement Fellowship?
This program recruits and trains Indigenous students from local tribal colleges and universities to be community organizers and be a point of contact for their peers and community members regarding civic engagement, voter education, community support, outreach, and more. This 8 week program runs through May and students are paid $28/hr because we believe in investing in our people and paying our folks a living wage.
We heard students who expressed the need to learn more about community organizing and how this work intersects with overall civics, public service, voting rights, campaigns, and movement building from an Indigenous framework. They are passionate about gaining new skills, strengthening their network, and make their communities stronger.
